We are an organization that firmly believes in giving back to our community.  Sebastian actively supports the Kerman and Foresthill communities in many ways.  We are a large contributor to the city of Kerman, the city of Foresthill, KUSD & FUSD athletic and academic programs, and the Kerman library which bears the name “Sebastian Building”.    

Sebastian is proud to service the community of Kerman and Foresthill and their surrounding areas.  We provide local and long distance telephone service, High-speed internet, Digital Television service and residential and commercial security systems.  We truly operate as a family, and we pride ourselves on being connected to the communities we serve. 

History

Kerman

Kerman Telephone Company was founded in June of 1946, by young entrepreneurs Bill and Katey Sebastian.  Newly married, Bill and Katey were eager to begin a new business venture.  As Bill used to say, he spent his last dollar and bought an opportunity in the form of Kerman Telephone Company, for the grand sum of $40,000. By December of 1946, Kerman Telephone Company had an outstanding 6 employees and 490 telephone lines in service.

Their first employee was Katey’s brother, Bud Ball.  Bud worked long and hard hours for the company, and spent forty-one years with them in dedicated service.  He helped to build the company to what it is today.  Much of the company’s success is due to his dedication and service.

Bill and Katey were young, smart, and determined entrepreneurs.  In the early years, before they occupied their first location, Bill and Katey actually worked out of their home.  That’s right; they lived and worked in the same small, residential building, with their young daughter Ruth.

Kerman Telephone Company (now known as Sebastian) has made many advancements and improvements over the past 65 years.  We have only changed locations twice, most recently to the building that we are currently in.  Our old location is just down the street, and we are proud to be in the beautiful building that we now occupy.

Foresthill

In 2005 Rose Hoeper, owner of Foresthill Telephone Company, accepted an offer from Sebastian to purchase the company.  The transaction was completed in August of 2005 with much anticipation.  As part of the change in ownership, new faces became part of the Sebastian family, new products and services including High Speed internet were launched and network improvements undertaken.
